Loyalty!

Good evening from my end folks! Amidst this week of love, I had planned for some other post, but came across this incidence yesterday that I am gonna share. I was forced to think, sit down and pen it all.
Okay, So I Iive in this small village of Himachal where almost every house has a domestic animal whether cow, buffalo or goat. People here do not have large acres of land but sufficient enough to grow grains, fruits and vegetables for their survival. Alongside they pet an animal as they get milk and then use cowdung as manure. That's like routine work for most of the villagers unless they work outside or stay away from home. And probably these people are one of the most satisfied. They don't really seek much. They are happy around their families which definitely include their pets as well:)
This story is about the Cow who spent some 10 years of her life in this house just next to mine.
I remember when the Aunt next door brought her from her maternals, she was just a newborn calf. And since no other house in the neighborhood had a cow, she became everyone's favourite. One of the reasons also being that Hindu culture believes Cow as Holy and from the morning first meal that is cooked in the house, One Roti is kept for the cow. So that's how this cow came to my neighborhood.
I left my home for Studies after that. During the final year of my MBBS, I came to know about the sudden demise of Aunt in the neighborhood. She was a cheerful lady. Couldn't survive the consecutive Cardiac Arrest on Day 3. I came home few days later to see the Cow was missing from her shed too. Asked mother about it, Was told they took her to her mother cow in other village for sometime being.
After few months, when life started getting to normal for people in the house, they brought her back. Uncle and his son look after her now. But the lady of the house is gone, and there ain't a bigger blow than that. The disruptions can never be brought back to normal for one more time.
I am not saying Men can't take care of the home, but the love, the order, the ease a woman brings into a household is unmatched. That's why for ages, women were just the Home-keepers.
Yesterday I was soaking sun on my terrace(that's like normal routine when at home in Chilly Winters), I saw few people in their home. They had come to take away the cow, not for few days, forever this time.
Uncle fed her well enough, they tied her her to a solid rope, and started pushing her to move.
But once she got to know that they are sending her to another place, she refused to move. Didn't step up the stairs of the courtyard. Four men tried hard to move her, but she didn't.
Tears were coming down her eyes but there was hardly anything she could do.
She resisted and resisted so Uncle came up with the idea of taking her to the Field side and then out of the village by another route.
She cried, mourned in loudest of her voice but everyone ignored. I was surprised to see how even animals hold utmost love and loyalty to their people.
"They have a simple rule: Exchange love.
And the loyalty to their master, to the person who was with them right from the start."
On one side where animals don't betray your trust, and don't leave you once you are no longer young or strong, humans on the other side are designed to be selfish. We use everyone for our motives, as long as someone satisfies our intention, that person will be revered like God and then a few days later, new God come. We expect our people to stay loyal to us forever but how much part of us is truly loyal to them as well? Are we ready to go to the same limits we expect someone else to go for us? I am yet to figure this out and meet people with that an ethic.
Few months back I read something beautiful,
" In a world that is engrossed in receiving to the fullest, you believe and have proud in giving. This GIVING IS RECEIVING "
This cow gave the most productive years of her life to this family and today when she is going to get old, need more care, they sold her.
I wish people stop viewing everyone and everything with a price tag. When we see another living being, we must get ignited with empathy, otherwise it's useless of us to have the most evolved brain.
Also someone just texted me Happy Hug Day..so wishing you all people Warm Hugs and more peace🤍
See ya later in another blog dropping Feb 14!!
P.S The picture attached is when Uncle was took her away yesterday Goodbyes are always harsh for me:(
